Discovering Ikigai in Bali

It was the summer of 2019, and I was living in Bali, deeply immersed in the development of my marketing consulting project, now known as Blockchain Marketing Boutique I was working from either Dojo Bali or HUBUD, I don't exactly recall which one at the moment. During that time, I attended one of those enlightening workshops that I enjoy so much. It was at that gathering where the term "Ikigai" was introduced.

At first, I wondered: "Ikigai," what is it?

The term "ikigai" is composed of two Japanese words: "iki" (生き), which refers to life, and "kai" (甲斐), which, through rendaku, becomes "gai" and roughly translates to "the realization of what one expects and desires."

This Japanese word was a revelation for me, and since then, I've kept it in mind with every decision I make in my life. The idea of finding that point of balance between what I love, what I'm good at, what the world needs, and what I can receive in return became a compass in my journey.

If you want to learn more I recommend you to read 'El método Ikigai: Despierta tu verdadera pasión y cumple tus propósitos vitales' I read in Spanish but is translated into 30 languages the authors are Francesc Miralles and Héctor Garcia.

I hope this little "pill" serves as inspiration for you when you face important decisions in your life.

A big hug to everyone!

Silvia
